Kuster Highlights Work To Lower Rx Drug Prices in Newest Ad

**The six-figure TV ad buy outlines Bob Burns’ extreme positions, opposition to legislation that has lowered drug prices, and steadfast support for Big Pharma**

Concord, NH — Annie Kuster’s campaign has released its sixth television ad of the 2022 election cycle. The TV spot highlights Annie’s efforts to lower prescription drug and health care costs while highlighting Bob Burns’ blind allegiance to the pharmaceutical industry at the expense of New Hampshire seniors.

Annie Kuster has worked to support Granite State families and seniors throughout her career. She stood up to the pharmaceutical industry to pass legislation that will lower the cost of prescription drugs for seniors by capping out-of-pocket costs and allowing Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices.

“For years, I have heard from Granite Staters about the challenge posed by high prescription drug and health care costs,” said Kuster. “That’s why I’ve fought to pass legislation to lower the price of prescription drugs and stop price gouging by the pharmaceutical industry. While I stood up to Big Pharma to deliver for Granite Staters, my opponent would have opposed these critical reforms, hurting our seniors while Big Pharma raked in huge profits.”

Just last week, Bob Burns made it clear that he’s running for Congress to support big Pharma, saying, “Really the major reason that I got into this was because of supply chain issues, particularly in my industry, pharmaceuticals…” In line with his anti-New Hampshire policy positions, Burns followed that statement by saying, “I don’t want to bring all manufacturing back to the United States...”

Kuster voted to pass the Inflation Reduction Act which will:

  • Institute a $2,000 annual cap for Medicare beneficiaries’ Part D spending

  • Allow Medicare to negotiate a volume discount for prescription drugs

  • Lower the cost of insulin to $35 a month for Medicare Part D beneficiaries

  • Eliminate out-of-pocket vaccine costs for Medicare Part D beneficiaries

Burns Opposed the Inflation Reduction Act:

  • Burns has said he would “absolutely” join the Freedom Caucus, whose members have advocated for deep cuts to Medicare and Social Security.

  • Burns supports the proposed House GOP agenda proposed by Rep. Kevin McCarthy, which opens the door to Social Security and Medicare cuts.

  • The Republican Study Committee, a bloc of conservative House GOP lawmakers, included a plan to massively slash Social Security in its proposed 2023 budget.

  • Republican leadership has openly said they plan to create a debt ceiling crisis if they retake the majority to force cuts to Social Security and Medicare.
